KEYMACRO is a simple and straightforward application that is capable of recording shortcuts from any keyboard into a database. You can choose to create a shortcut that is associated to a specific application or type of task, add a description of the shortcut and associate it with a time limit.
In this way, you can easily record your own unique shortcuts and follow them without having to memorize them.
First, you can access the software either via Windows or Mac OS X icons. There is no installer, you just need to double-click the package and you are good to go.
Once the program is started, you will be greeted with a Home menu that includes the main function of the application and a few other options, such as Welcome, Help, Settings and Exit.
Once you click on the Home tab, you will see three sections; the first includes the tabs for your shortcuts, the second shows the same shortcuts grouped by categories (i.e. USB), and the last section includes a list of the shortcuts that you created, including their description and the time they were last used.
The latter section provides you with the possibility to edit a shortcut or add a new one, and includes two tabs; the first one allows you to choose the type of shortcut (i.e. keyboard, mouse, application or task), the second one features the time limit of each shortcut.
As mentioned, your shortcuts can be associated with a specific application or type of task, a description and a time limit. By the way, you can associate a shortcut with more than one application or task and an unlimited number of shortcuts can be saved in the database.
Once you have created a shortcut, you can edit its properties by clicking on it. As an example, if you want to change the application or task associated with a shortcut, you need to click on the drop-down arrow at the end of the application and select the option you want to use.
You can also display a list of shortcuts that were used recently. This section shows the shortcuts that were used most recently, and by clicking on them, you can modify the time limit associated with them.
Once you have chosen your shortcuts, you can save them by clicking on the Save button. You will notice that you have the possibility to save them in a specific format, including the local drive and registry.
You can edit a shortcut by double-clicking on it. You can change its application, task, description and time limit.
